JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics seeks to hire an undergraduate student or recent graduate to work part-time as a Research Assistant.  The selected candidate will work with Prof Mahadevan and his team on visualization and communications of new exoplanet and stellar discoveries by the research group, as well as with Penn State built instruments like HPF, NEID and the Engineered Diffuser. Travel to conferences or remote locations (observatories) may be required. The ability to use and develop astronomical visualizations for VR applications is a plus. The ideal candidate will have significant exposure to both astronomy and planetary science (through courses or research) as well as some background experience with science communication and media (for eg. generating visualizations and graphics for high profile press releases).  The selected candidate will report to Dr. Suvrath Mahadevan.  Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
