As a Staff Server Software Engineer, you’ll drive technical architecture, lead critical development efforts, and play a visible role in shaping products used by businesses across the globe. What You Will Do:

• Spearhead the development of Clover’s comprehensive Point of Sale products, impacting both back-end systems and services.
• Architect and develop scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems that enhance customer experiences.
• Lead technical architecture, design, and implementation efforts across server-side applications.
• Coach and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Drive engineering best practices and advocate for a CI/CD DevOps approach and lean agile methodologies.
• Effectively triage bugs and prioritize tasks to maintain high-quality standards and operational excellence.
• Engage in strategic planning, contributing to Clover’s technical roadmap and software vision.
• Participate in a regular on-call rotation.

What You Will Need To Have:

• Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military. 
• 10+ years of professional software development experience with the ability to write maintainable, testable, and high-performance code.
• 5+ years of technical leadership delivering complex systems to production.
• Good grasp of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
• Expertise with software architecture, object-oriented design, microservices, and cloud systems.
• Experience & proficiency with one of the JVM languages: Java, Kotlin, or Scala.
• Experience with Spring Boot, TDD, and SQL, NoSQL databases.
• Proficient in RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
• Experience with agile methodologies, iterative development, and lean practices, as well as strong communication and presentation skills for effective collaboration.

What Would Be Great To Have:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science.
• Professional cloud service provider certifications.
• Familiarity with BDD methodology.
• Interest in functional programming.
• Exposure to generative and agentic AI.
• Previous experience with POS systems.

Salary Range

$124,300.00 - $213,100.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
