National Director - Patient Access
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Director, Patient Access & Services, is a key leadership role responsible for orchestrating the end-to-end strategy and execution of Amgen’s patient access. This role provides comprehensive leadership for field-based access and services teams, strategic vendor partnerships, and cross-functional alignment with internal stakeholders including Commercial, Patient Services, Trade & Distribution, Market Access, and Sales. This leader will serve as a critical connector across Brand Market Access and Patient Services to ensure uninterrupted patient access to therapy, optimal provider experience, and compliance with access and reimbursement processes.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and inclusivity.
Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and succession planning.
Ensure competencies in field-based reimbursement, buy-and-bill, patient onboarding, case management, and strategic account leadership.
Patient Access Strategy & Execution
Drive the national patient access strategy across specialty medications.
Align and oversee operations in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
Ensure rapid and seamless patient onboarding, benefit verification, prior authorization support, denials/appeals resolution, and affordability assistance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Brand Planning, Sales, Medical Affairs, and Trade to ensure aligned communication and tactical coordination.
Serve as the Lead representing access priorities in brand planning and execution.
Align with Field Sales leadership to streamline pull-through initiatives and provide insights to optimize provider engagement.
Reporting & Operations Oversight
Internal Use Only General and Administrative
Maintain oversight of all patient services KPIs, including speed-to-therapy, time-to-fill, adherence, and hub/SP operational metrics.
Report on trends in reimbursement, provider readiness, patient adjudication status, and impact of open enrollment efforts.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on real-time field data, vendor performance, and operational risks.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Access and Reimbursement experience
Or
Master’s degree and 7 years of Access and Reimbursement experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Access and Reimbursement experience
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or advanced degree preferred in Health Administration, Public Health, Business, or related field.
12 years of progressive experience in biopharmaceuticals, with 6 years in leadership roles across Patient Services, Market Access, or Field Reimbursement.
Minimum 8 years of experience supporting infused or ultra-rare/orphan therapies.
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, external vendor management, and field-based access initiatives.
