AVP, Professional Liability Underwriter

We are seeking a self-starter, highly motivated, qualified professional with a strong work ethic that will be responsible for working with the Regional Head of Professional Liability on executing single risk strategy for SCOR Business Solutions.
Candidate should have a broad underwriting experience to contribute to variety of segments including Professional Liability for Architects, Engineers and Contractors (annual and single project business), Lawyers, Accountants, Media, and Misc E&O. The business is focused on Excess placements involving both lead and follow positions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to new business production, renewal retention, and assisting with business development and profitable growth of the portfolio specifically outside of the Large Lawyers segment.
Key duties and responsibilities
Underwriting:
- Evaluate new and renewal Professional liability business.
- Negotiate appropriate terms and conditions including contract wordings and pricing to support SCOR’s risk appetite.
- Proactively manage the portfolio of assigned cases and make any necessary adjustments in the industry mix, attachment points and limits to ensure a long term, profitable book of business.
- Achieve and exceed the financial targets (profitability, expense, premium) for this line of business while also making a positive contribution to the SCOR Business Solutions results.
Marketing & Business Development:
- Develop and strengthen relationships with new and existing brokers in support of business retention and acquisition.
- Ability to provide excellent service to our distribution partners.
- Stay abreast of legal, regulatory, and industry trends that may impact this line of business.
- Maintain a high market profile and attend industry events to promote SCOR’s brand and develop business relationships.
Teamwork:
- Collaborate with other SCOR Specialty underwriters in the region to provide comprehensive “all lines” whole account solutions where possible.
- Embrace the global team environment - create networks, share knowledge and cross sell within SCOR Business Solutions and wider P&C business.
General:
- Work in a fast-paced environment while providing responsive service to our business partners.
- Operate within delegated authority levels.
- Understand and follow all SCOR underwriting guidelines pertaining to this class of business.
Required experience & competencies:
- 5-7 years of successful underwriting of Professional Liability and related lines of business.
- Experience in broader MPL classes is desirable.
- Ability to build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with distribution partners.
- Demonstrated understanding of policy forms, coverage types, as well as Pricing, and Reserving functions.
- Excellent analytical skills including MS Excel. · Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills combined with sound judgement.
- Positive attitude and a wiliness to contribute and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be willing to do business travel across the region for marketing and/or internal purposes.

“In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $180-220k salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time.
