The Occupational Health Nurse plays a vital role in promoting employee health and safety within the workplace. Working onsite, you will be responsible for managing and responding to work-related injuries and illnesses, providing immediate care, and coordinating follow-up treatment. Your expertise in occupational health will be instrumental in implementing preventive measures, conducting health assessments, and promoting wellness initiatives to enhance the overall well-being of our workforce. By collaborating closely with management, HR, and safety teams, you will contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting employees in their return-to-work processPosition
Occupational Health Nurse - RN (3rd Shift)Location
USA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create Possibilities
- Provide initial assessment of on-the-job injuries and illnesses and refer for further evaluation as necessary
- Complete initial assessment documentation and initiate medical case records in EMR/Gensuite
- Provide direct care, including treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses and business international travel readiness using established medical protocols
- Coordinate and provide appropriate care, treatment, and follow-up for work-related health events based on knowledge of the specific work environment
- Assess non-occupational illnesses occurring at work, determine the need for immediate treatment, and provide guidance to seek care from personal healthcare providers
- Provide counseling for employee mental health issues and appropriately refer to and utilize EAP services
- Perform health screenings and health assessments and complete all follow-up procedures, trending, and program evaluation
- Provide health-related counseling for employees within the scope of nursing knowledge and practice
- Maintain and safeguard confidentiality of employee health information and health records
- Conduct workplace assessments related to health issues and exposure follow-up
- Provide occupational health surveillance testing, including:
- Pulmonary function testing
- Audiometric testing
- Vision screening
- Other testing as appropriate for employees identified by EHS and industrial hygiene monitoring
- Assist with the implementation of health promotion strategies, including group and individual health education activities
- Participate in safety, HR, and other plant meetings related to medical, health and wellness, plant healthcare costs, emergency response, and other objectives
- Provide site-specific programs (e.g., Health and Wellness Programs) as directed by medical leadership
- Collaborate with EHS to perform Health & Safety Framework elements
- Coordinate training and medical response drills for First Aid Responders, including:
- First Aid
- CPR/AED
- Bloodborne pathogens
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Education & Licensure
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (preferred) or Associate’s degree in Nursing
Current, unencumbered RN license to practice in the state(s) of employment and practice
Certification in occupational health nursing preferred (COHN, COHN-S) or related specialty (CEN, CCRN)
Minimum Experience
Three (3) or more years of nursing experience required
Five (5) or more years of nursing experience preferred
Experience in one or more of the following preferred:
Occupational health
Community health
Ambulatory care
Critical care
Emergency nursing
Knowledge of:
Case management
Workers’ compensation
Government and OSHA regulations
Additional education appropriate to the work setting, such as:
Drug and alcohol specimen collection
Pulmonary function test
