Job Summary

The Seasonal Program Lead is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the assigned programs and program areas of camp. The Program Lead will work directly with other camp staff to ensure that adequate program opportunities are available to all campers. The Program Lead will provide a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for campers to learn new skills and to improve old ones. The Program Lead will have a positive attitude toward the program area and camp in general. Overnight camp employment is seasonal, with dates of employment approximately May – August.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Follow established procedures for supervising camper health and enforcing all safety regulations.
Assume responsibility for the health and safety of campers.
Maintain positive relations with families, visitors, and the public at all times.
Follow all camp rules and regulations and enforce them among campers and staff.
Actively participate in staff training and meetings.
Work cooperatively with unit, program, and administrative staff to provide an enjoyable environment for all campers.
Provide opportunities so that each camper will have a positive camping experience.
Participate and instruct campers in emergency procedures.
Assist each camper and staff member in meeting personal goals and those established by the camp for camper and staff development.
Respond to and provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems or concerns.
Guide activities and experiences using girl planning and Girl Scout Program.
Teach and assist in activity areas assigned and participate in all other assigned events.
Submit all required paperwork on time.
Conduct an initial pre-camp inventory in your program area and store equipment for safety.
During staff training, instruct staff of their responsibilities to you in your activity area.
Conduct a daily check of program area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
Keep the program area in good order and good repair.
Teach and monitor proper use of equipment and facilities.
Conduct mid-summer and end-of-summer evaluations for all assigned program staff.
At the end of the camp season clean, store, and pack away and inventory all materials and supplies.
At the end of the camp season, prepare an evaluation and summary of current camp season including inventories and recommendations for the following camp season.
Other duties as assigned or required.


Aquatics


Develop and operate a meaningful Aquatics Program geared to the ages, interests, and abilities of the campers.
Responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the waterfront programs and facilities of the camp.
Schedule aquatics staff rotations for both pool and lake activities – to include lifeguarding and cleaning responsibilities.
Schedule drills on a regular basis.
Teach and assist in all aquatic areas, as necessary.
In cooperation with aquatic staff, develop and confirm all lesson plans to ensure they foster participants’ aquatic skills.
Assist in testing the swimming ability of all campers and staff in addition to discussing pool rules with campers at the beginning of each session.
Keep records on all Aquatic Program participants to track progress through each level.
Must have current Lifeguard certification.
Must have training and/or experience in waterfront activities and management.


CIT (Counselor-In-Training)


Develop and operate a meaningful Counselor-In-Training Program geared to the ages, interests, and abilities of the campers.
Responsible for planning, directing, and supervising campers who have registered for the Counselor-In-Training program.
Develop an organized schedule for Counselor-in Training campers to include all required training.
Ensure unit staff are enforcing and following all rules and are fulfilling their assigned duties.
Keep records on all Counselor-In-Training participants to track progress through each level.
At the end of each CIT session, prepare an evaluation for each camper and recommendations for the Camp Director.
Must have ability to live in an assigned area with a group of campers and staff for the duration of the camp season.
Must have previous experience leading teens in a Counselor-In-Training program or similar leadership experience.
Must have ability to teach and model leadership skills to campers.


Equestrian


Develop and operate a meaningful Equestrian Program geared to the ages, interests, and abilities of the campers.
Responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the Equestrian Program and facilities of the camp.
Schedule riding times for cabins and organize supplies and horses.
Schedule drills on a regular basis.
