SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military.
As an Engineering Manager, you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will represent the engineering department at all management level meetings. You'll ensure that the engineering design, documentation, and approvals meet the program schedules, are obtained in a timely manner and that engineering hours expended are productive, meeting program goals and budgets. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required.
Responsibilities Include:
Support project staffing plans, schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages, including the execution of risk mitigation plans.
Ensure the availability and effectiveness of required tools, processes, and training to achieve program success, while aligning with SNC tools/processes and industry best practices/standards.
Manage resource allocations required for program task execution, as well as risk, issue, and challenge identification.
Collaborate with the business to determine staffing requirements and help source, screen, interview, and hire top engineering talent.
Execute onboarding support, training, mentorship, and career path/talent development activities for engineering discipline teams.
Provide career path support, conduct performance evaluations, and facilitate conflict resolution.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline
Typically, 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, which includes 4+ years of management experience.
Experience working in and leading large systems design and development teams
Experience leading the development, maturation, and approval of product level designs
Understanding of electrical systems design and hardware integration
Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles
Thorough Understanding of engineering principles and practices
Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Excellent communication and organizational skills
