JOB SUMMARY:
Implements the daily educational therapy plan for school-age children in a day treatment program during the summer months. Defines the organizational and instructional strategies to facilitate learning and self-regulation of behavior through active utilization of program incentives.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Health and Human Services field, such as recreational or music therapy or psychology. Two years' teaching and/or human services experience in a behavioral health, child development program, academic, or therapeutic setting preferred. Master's degree in Education or related field preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
Preferred certification or licensure in field of discipline.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops therapeutic plans for specific children and implements programs, which encompass all areas of development.
2. Assesses and evaluates clients. Implements daily educational program for school-aged children. Documents client progress through written reports, notes, and summaries.
3. Maintains Standard Course of Study coupled with enrichment activities while child is receiving day treatment services.
4. Actively participates in the creation and or maintenance of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) which includes the gathering of behavioral data, psycho-educational testing and assessment and all supportive documentation that would support a smaller classroom setting to best meet the educational needs of the child post treatment.
5. Maintains public school documentation which includes daily attendance, quarterly report cards, documentation to verify teacher/parent conferences, school work samples to include in child's CUMM Folder maintained at Central Office and any other documentation mandated by the child's home school and or State of North Carolina.
6. Communicates client's status to team members effectively.
7. Acts as liaison between community and the program. Partners with the school system to support the client's educational needs both during and post treatment.
8. Participates in community integration outings to practice social skills in a less structured environment.
9. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
