Job Description

Per Diem Multi-Modality Imaging Tech

Essential Job functions:

  • Must currently be licensed in at least two of the following modalities: Cat Scan, MRI,  Nuclear Medicine, or PETCT.
  • Performs diagnostic examinations with the understanding of anatomical positioning, modality protocols, and equipment, so that selection and modification of technical factors may produce optimum results.
  • Assumes accountability for managing delivery of care and patient safety.
  • Ensures proper identification of patients demographics.
  • Communicates with attending Radiologist and verifies provider orders.
  • Produces quality diagnostic images for interpretation.
  • Maintains exam room cleanliness after exam and procedure.  Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work assignments and adjusts priorities based on changing situations.
  • Familiar with the location of emergency equipment and medications to assist in the treatment of contrast reactions and other emergencies.
  • Prepares patients for procedures providing instructions to obtain desired results, cooperation and to minimize anxiety.
  • Operates imaging equipment properly, safely and in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrates awareness of Radiation Safety procedures for self and others.
  • Replenish supplies in assigned area as needed.
  • Ensure equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks. Follow department standards for reporting equipment malfunctions or problems.
  • Accurately prepares and assists in the administration of contrast materials. (IV and or oral).

General Job functions:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance of safety, OSHA, and HIPPA regulations.
  • Obtains and documents, patient history and pertinent information. 
  • Assesses patient for potential risks or contraindication to the IV contrast.
  • Attend departmental meetings.

 Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:

  •  1-3 years preferred.
  • Licensed by NJ State DEP.
  • Graduated from an accredited Radiography program.
  •  Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies.
  •  BLS certification is required. IV certified preferred.
  • The ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is required.
  • Advanced computer skills including email, Microsoft applications and ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record System, RIS and PACS Systems.
