Summary
Performs skilled work in several different crafts, particularly electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and related duties at the County's Human services office building.70% Maintains electrical, plumbing, heating, and ventilation systems at Dr. Daniel Hale Williams Rock County Resource Center.
- Inspects motors, air conditioning units and related equipment.
- Repairs, troubleshoots, replaces, and inspects electrical equipment, appliances and fixtures.
- Performs mechanical maintenance, troubleshoots, and repairs plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Replaces piping, valves and other worn or damaged parts.
- Checks and adjusts regulator valves for proper pressure.
- Operates commercial mowers and grounds equipment.
- Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and outdoor equipment.
10% Perform other duties as assigned
Examples of duties
- Considerable knowledge of building maintenance methods, materials, and equipment.
- Considerable knowledge of power and hand tools and their application in work situations.
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work practices.
- Ability to inspect and troubleshoot a variety of electrical, mechanical and other equipment to determine defects and needed repairs.
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Knowledge of welding repair.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on a wide variety of mechanical equipment
- Must have good communication skills
- Must have good customer service skills
Qualifications
- Graduation from a high school or its equivalent. Three years experience in heating and ventilation, electrical maintenance and plumbing preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Must possess and maintain a current unrestricted (not due to corrective lenses) driver's license and auto insurance pursuant to the Rock County Administrative Policy and Procedure 5.02 and 5.27.
- Must possess a working telephone.
