What you'll do

  • You will take on the role of a technical lead within our Data Engineering Team .
  • You will assess the current data platform architecture and constantly look for opportunities to improve it.
  • You will continuously research current and emerging technologies and propose changes where needed.
  • You will keep the target architecture specification and reference architectures of our data platform up-to-date.
  • You will evaluate the needs of the company to then design, build and integrate information systems.
  • You will define best practices, standard processes and architectures for use cases within the data domain.
  • You will provide guidance, support and mentoring to junior Data Engineers and contribute to their technical growth.
  • You will stay in touch with our stakeholder, both on the business side as well as the technical side, and provide updates on development processes and costs.
  • You will become an expert for our tool set, define how we should use it, and constantly search for upgrades or improvements.
  • You will perform technical pilots as well as proof of concepts to assess their advantages. Based on this you will give recommendations and define timelines, goals and roadmaps for following projects.

Who we are looking for

  • You have several years of proven experience as a Data Engineer or Data Platform Specialist.
  • You have experience with cloud services, ideally AWS (knowledge in Redshift, EC2, Glue, etc. would be a plus).
  • You have experience with different tools for ETL processes and process orchestration (preferably Matillion, dbt, Apache Airflow).
  • You have prior knowledge of implementing Infrastructure as Code using Pulumi or Terraform.
  • You have proven experience with the implementation of data warehousing architectures and layers.
  • You have worked with message-based integration technologies (like SQS/ SNS).
  • You have proven experience in data modeling and implementation of dimensional models and start-schemas (3NF and data vault 2.0 would be a plus).
  • You have proven experience in delivering enterprise solutions from design to production using Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and are able to break down design into meaningful tasks.
  • You have experience with implementing or working with modern integration methods (APIs (REST, SOAP), ESB, Streaming, CDC, …).
  • You have excellent documentation, communication and presentation skills for reporting from team members to C-Level.
  • You have a solid understanding of Data governance practices (GDPR, Ataccama or other RDM tools, …).
  • You have a good knowledge of cloud infrastructure virtualization with Kubernetes & Docker.
