Job Summary:

Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice.  As an integral member of the health care team, coordinates plan of care and communicates and collaborates extensively with the other members of the healthcare team, patients, and/or patient’s family and or significant other(s).  Maintains and demonstrates a high standard of professional ethics. Must be able to travel between various locations.

Position Responsibilities:

Performs an assessment of the patient, leading to development, implementation and evaluation of a plan of care. Reviews the plan for completeness and communicates with the physician to identify patient’s needs and formulate outcomes.  Communicates with family or patient and health care team to assure proper understanding of plan of care.  Responsible for performing the following:

  • Non- Stress Test
  • Amniotic Fluid Index
  • Phlebotomy
  • BPP
  • Assist Perinatologist with Procedures
  • Educating Patient and family regarding disease process, individual care needs, wellness, safety issues, etc. (including diabetic, anticoagulation, hypertension, etc. education and teaching).

Triage phone calls from patients and refers call to appropriate person and performs follow up calls with patients when appropriate, including communicating results from labs, testing, etc. 

Administers, monitors, and documents therapeutic interventions and regimes. Administers and renews prescribed medication in safe and efficient manner when necessary.

Maintains efficient documentation per policy and procedures that gives evidence of safe and effective practice. Demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.

Identifies and participates in performance improvement.   Embraces opportunities for continuous learning within the patient care profession, including clinical problem solving, financial and insurance, managed care and other functions of the continuum of patient care.

Participates in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team. Oversees medical assistants (MA)and performs MA duties when needed. Maintains professional and departmental level competencies.

Position Qualifications Required:

Required Experience:

A minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience in an acute setting is required with Maternal Fetal medicine experience preferred.

Required Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
