Details of Research Project: 

The long-term goal of the project is to understand the association between maternal immune activation (MIA) and neurodevelopment. Specifically, the post-doctoral researcher will assess whether MIA increases the risk of child behavioral problems, including ADHD symptoms and autistic traits. The post-doctoral researcher will assess various MIA exposures including the maternal immune index, individual cytokines, CRP, prenatal infection, the polygenic risk score, and their association with child behavioral outcomes. Importantly, these exposures will be assessed in the context of other risk factors, such as child genetic risk, pre-pregnancy BMI and pregnancy complications.

Will include completing research activities (e.g., designing and conducting studies, data analysis, writing and publishing scholarly articles, disseminating results to the scientific community, etc.), aiding in grant writing, mentoring junior researchers, collaborating with other researchers and engaging in career development.

Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project: Successful manuscript preparation and dissemination at conferences and presentations; grant renewal of the current grant; collaborations with Akbarian and Perez lab for further investigation and replication.
