BASIC FUNCTION:
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the research processes in the Molecular Imaging Laboratory. The incumbent will plan, conduct, and report original research focused on the development of imaging method for detecting traumatic brain injury and other neurological disease models. The tasks include performing imaging experiments for studies ranging from preclinical to translational research, analyzing research data, and writing research reports.
SUPERVISORY
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Candidate will need to supervise student interns or research assistants for conducting projects.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include faculty, staff, researchers and students at the College and school levels. External contacts include vendors, national and international business partners, collaborators, research scientists and students.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conduct original imaging research, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Utilizing advanced imaging technology with statistical and computational techniques to improve the accuracy and efficiency of TBI diagnosis.
- Conducting research that specifically addresses the healthcare needs of minority populations aiming to enhance the quality of life and social-economic status of minority communities through improved healthcare interventions.
- Assist in lab management, conduct various research projects and contribute to new business development in the lab.
- Critically review and present published research articles.
- Prepare progress reports, presentations, and attend project meetings as required.
- Edit abstracts and papers intended for publication.
- Designing and implementing innovative econometric models and algorithms for the diagnosis and longitudinal monitoring the quality of life of the TBI patients.
- Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals, data scientists, and social scientists.
- Contributing to joint research projects and publications in reputable journals.
- Analyzing large datasets to identify trends and insights related to TBI in minority populations.
- The above duties provide an overview of the principal functions of the job and do not encompass all possible assignments given by the director or inherent in the position.

CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills in data science and algorithm development.
- Ability to perform original imaging research, including planning, execution, and data analysis.
- Ability to write scientific reports, abstracts and papers intended for publication.
- Competence in both oral and written English and ability to articulate concisely and in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
