Position Summary
The Vendor Funding Management team develops and recommends solutions to improve business performance utilizing technical practices and procedures, a skillset which traditionally resides outside the core competency of business and financial management teams. They are responsible for the ongoing management and continuous improvement of the Vendor Funding Management (VFM) system which generates over +$2B in Front Store Margin. The VFM system is a business-critical contract/deal management system that integrates all aspects of vendor funding into a single source, integrating contract management, financial forecasting, billing execution, and reporting dashboards while maximizing internal audit visibility and ensuring compliance with adopted CVS accounting practices and SOX regulations.
This role is tasked with overseeing vendor funding management operations and is the primary business owner of the VFM system, responsible for partnering with merchandising leadership and IT development teams to define and achieve goals for future enhancements. They lead development efforts by highlighting opportunities for enhancement to merchandising leaders, working with system architects & developers to define and create technical solutions, then developing training and communications plans to drive adoption across internal and external system users.
This role also supports merchandising business needs through analysis of supplier allowance funding trends and forecasts, helping to identify opportunities for improved profitability, system integration and reporting efficiency. The VFM tool will be the primary source of vendor funding measurement and this role is responsible for the development and enhancement of dashboards to quickly identify insights and necessary actions. They are also responsible for ad hoc analytical support for merchandising and finance partners, focused on trade fund management, vendor profitability, sales, purchases, and audits.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Partner with leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) across merchandising and external vendor partners to identify opportunities for improved profitability, system integration and reporting clarity. Set strategic direction and immediate priorities for the ongoing management and continuous improvement of the VFM system. Manage discretionary IT capital budget of $1M annually to balance long-term enhancements against urgent break-fix needs.
- Act as primary business owner and liaison with CVS IT (developers, architects, and project managers) using a combination of Agile and Scrum principles to manage IT projects. Oversee the detailed schedule with key benchmarks to ensure project timelines are met and effectively communicate progress to leadership and business partners.
- Provide advanced analytics to support business requests and work to productionize outputs into IT integrated business solutions. Leverage knowledge of system development (Salesforce/Informatica, Oracle, Postgres, Teradata, SOQL) to identify preliminary solutions, lead requirement development and drive design planning.
- Ensure system continuity to protect $2B annually invoiced and maintain compliance with all regulations governing revenue recognition. Oversee thorough quality assurance and user acceptance testing (UAT) controls to guarantee core production system functions are accurate and stable throughout development and implementation of ongoing enhancements.
- Develop and execute communication and training regiments for internal CVS and external vendor users. Confirm broad understanding of planned enhancements, expected impacts and timelines across all user groups via comprehensive change management plans. Support user community through ongoing system administration, management of communication, and development of training materials.
