The Department of Forestry and Fire Management provides services through strategic implementation of cooperative natural resources and fire assistance programs, development and support of statewide fire policies, and coordination of resources across all-lands and jurisdictions.

Job Summary:Under the guidance and direction of the Deputy Director, the Assistant Director - Administrative Services provides overall leadership and management of DFFM finances by establishing and executing broad financial policies and strategies for a $120 million + agency.
This position also directs and administers, through subordinate management staff, the development, implementation and operation of the agency’s administrative functions including but not limited to accounting, purchasing, budgeting, building operations, Information Systems (IT), fleet, and cache for the entire agency.
This position may be available for remote work within Arizona.

Job Duties:• Executive oversight of the Financial and Business administration to include establishing and implementing short and long-range goals, management objectives, budget, financial policies and operating procedures. Reviewing and evaluating processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvements and managing agency-wide change.
• Provides leadership, supervision, and oversight to staff in multi-jurisdictional functions to include but not limited to accounting, purchasing, budget, building operations, Information Systems (IT), fleet, and cache.
• Reviews the progress of projects and reports on the performance of multiple units to the executive team. Identifies major resource constraints that impact implementation of desired organizational goals. Develops plans and delivers results in a fast-changing environment. Provides input to divisional or departmental strategy.
• Collaborates with agency employees and contractors to develop and recommend policies, operating guidelines, and instructions that ensure efficient and consistent program performance.
• Completes special projects as assigned.
• Drive on State business.

Knowledge of:
• Arizona procurement, contracting, and accounting statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as relevant methods and processes.
• Annual budget process and the legislative process, both at the State and Federal levels.
• Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the State of Arizona Accounting Manual (SAAM).
• Budget and financial management practices.
• State of Arizona statutes, rules, and regulations related to facilities/space management, vehicle and equipment fleet management, and supply cache management, including inventory, distribution, and maintenance systems.
• Agency policies and procedures, as well as the Federal Enabling Act and the State Constitution, particularly as they relate to the agency's status, administrative rules, and programs.
• Leadership principles, personnel supervision, and management practices with a solid grasp of principles that guide effective organizational management.
Skills in:
