Summary:
The Industrial Control Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated industrial control systems. This role requires strong expertise in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and electrical controls to support efficient and reliable plant operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley platforms, industrial networks, and motor control systems, along with the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Core Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLCs such as Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix) and/or Siemens
- Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modifications, including ladder logic and structured text
- Proficiency in HMI development and support (FactoryTalk View, PanelView, WinCC, or similar platforms)
- Experience with SCADA systems for system monitoring, control, and data acquisition
- Hands-on experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controls, soft starters, and servo systems
- Strong understanding of industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, DeviceNet, Profibus, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
- Troubleshooting and maintenance of sensors, transmitters, instrumentation, and automated systems
- Experience with control panel installation, wiring, and component replacement
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, or a related field
- Experience with Allen-Bradley software such as Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000 and FactoryTalk
- Familiarity with SCADA configuration, alarming, and data trending
- Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance practices
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Exposure to robotics or advanced automation systems
Additional Expectations:
- Strong commitment to safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and OSHA standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
