Description
Job Summary
The groundskeeper provides professional landscaping services for the entire facility. The Groundskeeper will be responsible for performing ongoing landscaping tasks, as well as routine maintenance of all landscaping equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Mow the lawns, prune the bushes and trees, edge the walkways and give the grounds a manicured look
· Operate snow removal equipment during the winter to keep all of the walkways and building entrances cleared and safe
· Take on special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary by the maintenance manager.
· Collaborate with maintenance team to make sure the grounds and the building are always properly cared for.
· Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on the lawn care equipment and tools
· Walk around all buildings and pick-up trash and check the grounds daily.
· Empty all trash containers outside daily, as directed.
· Weed shrubs and trim a minimum of twice a week.
· Plant and place flowers and plants, as directed.
· Check lawn for any dry spots daily.
· Work very close with the Maintenance Supervisor on special duties, edging, trimming, etc.
· Fertilize as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
· Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
· Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
· Performs general repair that do not require a specialized technician; i.e. repairing drywall, paint, doors, etc.
· Perform maintenance tasks based on pictures, blueprints, written descriptions and oral instructions.
· Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
· Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor.
· Paints interior and exterior walls and trim.
· Operates snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
· Maintains and repairs buildings' plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses.
· Maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings.
· Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipment such as truck, and riding mower.
· Assists other departments with moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
· Must be able to use power tools, such as saws, drills, sanders, Etc. in a safe manner.
· Must be able to familiarize self and understand proper operating procedures of various pieces of equipment such as, but not limited to, boilers, pumps, and related equipment.
· Must complete all mandatory hospital requirements, formally or informally, such as meetings, training, and safety.
· Must be able to work any and all work schedules as directed by the supervisor.
· Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
3 months related experience
Preferred Requirements
2 years customer service experience
Skills/Competencies
· Ability to follow instructions from supervisor
· Knowledge of general repair
· Ability to use hand tools and power tools
· Good time management and organizational skills
· Basic computer skills
· Ability to communicate effectively amongst coworkers and management
Physical Requirements
Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes, extend arms and hands in any direction, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands, pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers, perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and stoop, kneel crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous sitting, walking, and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors. Rare lifting of greater than 50 pounds.
