We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Transmission/Distribution Engineer to support wildfire mitigation projects in San Diego, California. This is a hybrid position. In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing and implementing transmission and distribution projects. This position offers a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership, and project management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and engineering of transmission and distribution projects focused on wildfire mitigation from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project budgets, schedules, and quality standards
- Develop and oversee the creation of engineering deliverables, including PLS-CADD model, plan & profile drawings, and stringing charts
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams (project managers, other engineers, and designers) and external stakeholders (clients, utilities) to ensure project success
- Stay current with the latest industry standards, codes, and technologies related to power utility project design and engineering
- Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement within the power utility engineering practice
- Be adaptable and willing to work outside of standard business hours on occasion
- Support and troubleshoot construction issues
- Knowledge of distribution line design and construction, including upgrading existing wood poles to new steel poles to mitigate wildfire risk
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- Civil/Structural is preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in transmission and distribution engineering design
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred
- Proficiency in industry software such as AutoCAD and PLS-CADD
- Experience with wildfire mitigation strategies
- Experience with SDGE's ESH program is preferred
- Strong project management skills and the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
