The Assistant Manager Parts will assist in the management and operation of a parts storeroom which serves as the principal supply point for shop personnel. Incumbent duties involve assisting in the ordering and issuing of parts, materials and supplies and assisting in the maintenance of computerized inventory record.

Job OverviewThe Assistant Manager Parts will assist in the management and operation of a parts storeroom which serves as the principal supply point for shop personnel. Incumbent duties involve assisting in the ordering and issuing of parts, materials and supplies and assisting in the maintenance of computerized inventory record.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operations
- Assist with the overall operation of a centralized parts room and warehouse and/or in the operation of a satellite parts room and warehouse
- Assist with contacting vendors, obtaining price quotations, and in initiating purchase requisitions for needed parts, materials and supplies
- Assist in establishing and maintaining proper inventory levels for parts, materials and supplies and in reordering when necessary
- Assist in maintaining a current library of sales catalogs, parts books and information on vendor products and equipment
- Assist in the issuance of parts, materials and supplies to authorized personnel
- Assist in receiving shipments of parts, materials and supplies. storing of parts, materials and supplies in proper places
- Dispatch personnel to vendor locations to pick up and deliver parts, materials and supplies
- Issue checkout tools and equipment to authorized personnel and maintain a daily log of transactions
- Supervise and assist in cleaning parts room and warehouse areas
- Assist in maintaining routine files and records and in preparing routine reports
- Drive a school bus as a substitute when required
- Enter daily receipt and distribution of parts, materials and supplies into the computer
- Verify invoices to ensure specification conformity and correct prices
Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED
- Texas CDL Driver's License, Class A or B, with P and S endorsements Or must be able to obtain within 120 days of hired date
- Pass an Annual Physical Per (DOT) Department of Transportation
- Texas School Bus Driver Certification or obtain within 120 days
- Minimum of 1 year General working experience in a parts storeroom preferred
- Working knowledge of general automotive/hardware parts room practices & procedures
- Knowledge of parts, materials and supplies utilized in automotive/hardware and maintenance repair
- Ability to use computers and related software, and computerized inventory control and purchasing procedures
- Ability to operate a van, light truck, forklift, pallet jack and hand dolly while performing moderate to heavy manual work in lifting and moving stock
- Ability to maintain and prepare routine files and records
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, vendors and the general public
