Description

The School Psychologist is primarily responsible for providing psychological support and assessment to Cadets on campus. They meet weekly or as needed with specific Cadets to support their social and emotional well-being and work closely with the counseling and residential life teams to ensure all Cadets receive adequate support. In collaboration with administration, faculty, and staff, the School Psychologist is an educator who helps our Cadets succeed academically, socially, and emotionally by fostering a supportive and respectful school climate.

  • Conduct psychological assessments for Cadets and interpret the results. 
  • Coordinate IEP meetings with the Director of Learning Strategies as needed, ensuring IEPs are current and updated. 
  • Support counselors, faculty, and staff in designing and implementing academic and behavioral interventions and accommodations, and provide the necessary training and oversight for proactive wellness programs.
  • Review files of prospective Cadets who may need additional support upon admission. 
  • Maintain consistent communication with families on your caseload to keep them informed about the Cadet's progress. 
  • Engage in regular communication and collaboration with counselors and administrators. 
  • Contribute to integrating social, coping, advocacy, and problem-solving skills in Cadets through individual or group therapy. 
  • Consult with other psychologists and resources to enhance mental health services based on individual or school needs.
  • Integrate psychological services into the classroom environment when appropriate. 
  • Partners with teachers, families, and other professionals to improve Academy policies and practices using evidence-based practices and data-based decision-making. 
  • Assist in the professional development of faculty and staff as required. 
  • Seek out opportunities for professional growth to remain current on relevant, effective pedagogy and issues.

Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in School Psychology, Master's of Science degree (M.S.) in School Psychology (preferred)
  • A current CA Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential: Specialized in School Psychology
  • Must possess a valid CA license as a licensed educational Psychologist (LEP), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
  • Must meet BBS requirements to supervise MSW, MFT, and PCC associates/trainees
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a California school district or educational setting (experience in a private school setting preferred)
  • Must have a passion for student success
