Development and PR Director
JOB SUMMARY
Ensure the stability and growth of the Agency by substantially increasing financial support for Volunteers of America and broadening community awareness of our programs and impact throughout New York State.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Implement successful development and fundraising strategies to secure financial gifts including major gifts and planned gifts, resulting in a significant increase in new contributions from individuals, corporate contributions and foundations.
- Actively research, cultivate, and solicit prospects for financial gifts with a focus on engaging new supporters.
- Secure financial support for the agency and meet annual goals for financial contributions.
- Manage gift recognition and donor appreciation events.
- Execute successful fundraising events and lead the efforts to engage financial support especially sponsorships for these events, including VOA’s Gala and Golf Tournament.
- Generate financial support via an effective array of development tactics, including major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships, direct mail, annual appeals, and cause-related marketing.
- Engage the support of Board members in development efforts and ensure 100% giving from the Board of Directors.
- Formulate & implement internal and external marketing/branding plans to effectively increase awareness about Volunteers of America and publicize VOA’s programs, donation opportunities, special events, and volunteer opportunities, resulting in increased support for the agency, resulting in increased financial support for the agency.
- Assist with grant submissions, including the research, writing, and preparation of grant proposals.
- Develop and execute effective media strategies and track results to demonstrate an increase in positive awareness and perception of the agency.
- Manage and maximize the agency’s digital presence, including SEO, digital marketing, streaming ads, Google ads, website, social media and web-based communications.
- Write and supervise the design, printing & distribution of agency materials, including brochures, newsletters, annual reports, acquisition mailings, annual Caring Gifts campaign, and other development materials.
- Handle specific public relations projects, which may include media outreach, ribbon-cutting events, networking events, and/or new service introductions.
- Identify and secure collaborative opportunities (including in-kind donations) to support Agency initiatives.
- Act as agency spokesperson as necessary.
- Conduct tours of VOA programs, arrange for panel presentations, and participate in speaking engagements outside the age
