What this job involves: The General Maintenance Technician supports the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems in an assigned industrial/commercial facility. This role performs comprehensive inspections and repairs to property interior and exterior areas, including structural components, installed fixtures, roofing systems, and lighting infrastructure.

What your day-to-day will look like

• Perform repair, maintenance, and replacement of building structural components, locks, doors, furniture, and access control systems

• Conduct routine HVAC system maintenance including cleaning coils, changing filters and belts, and maintaining documentation for fire extinguishers and critical building systems

• Maintain and repair comprehensive plumbing systems including toilets, sinks, water heaters, piping, and sump pumps while responding to plumbing emergencies

• Prepare, prime, and paint building interior and exterior surfaces as part of ongoing facility upkeep and improvement projects

• Complete general maintenance and tenant service requests including hanging pictures, installing office equipment, moving furniture, and handling locksmith assignments

• Perform facility inspections and safety assessments, recognizing hazards and proposing elimination methods while completing required hazard assessments

• Operate powered equipment and conduct vehicle safety inspections while documenting all work performance, materials procurement, and maintaining compliance with safety procedures

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial/commercial building repair and maintenance, including basic plumbing and electrical work

• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with ability to interpret maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

• Proficiency with electric hand tools and maintenance equipment

• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds regularly while performing overhead work and working at heights using ladders and aerial lifts

• Capable of working in confined spaces including closets, crawl spaces, attics, and vaults, and in all weather conditions including wet, hot, and cold environments

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Capability to obtain certification for powered vehicular equipment (burden carriers, forklifts, aerial lifts) and reasoning ability to solve problems with known variables in routine situations

• Near and far vision capabilities for inspection work and equipment operation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical training program completion

• Experience with Siemens or Honeywell Building Automation Systems (BAS)

• Previous experience in similar industrial or commercial maintenance environments

• Existing certifications for powered equipment operation

• Participation in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs to maintain current knowledge and certifications

Location: Pennington, NJ

Work Schedule:

• Night shift - 7PM-7AM

• 3/4 Day Work Schedule (rotating every other week)

• Subject to 24-hour on-call availability for emergency situations

Estimated compensation for this position:

64,480.00 – 64,480.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
