This role will be fully remote through August 2025, with the expectation that employees will begin working 2 days per week in our dedicated office space in either San Francisco starting in September of 2025 or New York City, starting in January of 2026.
About the Job
We are looking for a Lead Procurement Specialist who can manage Taskrabbit’s central procurement activities. This role is responsible for leading sourcing efforts across the company in tech and non-tech purchases, but with a strong focus on Software and Professional Services. You will be a trusted partner to department leads, ensuring that we make smart purchasing decisions, manage vendor relationships effectively, and support our goals of growth, cost discipline, and business agility.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation, contract management, and purchase order approval.
- Develop, implement, and enforce procurement policies, procedures, and tools to support operational consistency and internal controls.
- Partner with cross-functional department leaders, incl. Legal, Finance, Security, and IT to understand needs, define sourcing strategies, and execute procurement plans.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and maximize value through ROI analysis, competitive sourcing, vendor consolidation, and contract optimization.
- Track, evaluate, and manage vendor performance and spend, ensuring quality, delivery, and compliance with agreed terms.
- Enhance procurement documentation, approval workflows, and spend visibility.
- Lead the organization-wide education on procurement process changes.
- Own and continuously improve the vendor database and procurement tracking tools (e.g., spend dashboards, renewal calendars, critical tools list, etc.).
- Identify and track clear business owners for all critical software and tools, ensuring accountability for vendor lifecycle management and cost control. Support owners in meeting finance, legal, and IT security compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or vendor management, preferably in a fast-paced tech or marketplace environment.
- Proven track record building procurement processes, tools, and policies from the ground up. Adept at working independently to assess needs, navigate constraints, and implement practical solutions in the absence of significant support or established infrastructure.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing a wide range of vendors (software/SaaS, marketing, corporate services).
- Proven ability to perform ROI analyses to assess competitor bids and inform strategic purchasing decisions
- Ability to balance process rigor with flexibility and business pragmatism.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. You know how to build partnerships and influence beyond your direct organizational authority.
- A detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and financial acumen. Passion for continuous improvement and driving efficiency across an organization.

- Experience working with legal teams on contract terms and risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with SOX, audit requirements, or internal controls.
