Job Summary

The Senior Epic Application Analyst is responsible for advancing the functionality and operational efficiency of Information Systems utilizing their expertise in Epic Applications. This entails intermediate to advanced analysis, design, configuration and implementation. This position is responsible for ensuring integration of technology into effective workflow and process design as well as ensuring operational efficiency of assigned Epic applications and integrated technology. Provides advanced ongoing analysis, consultation, complex problem-solving, collaboration and application support to users. Also responsible for contributing to system training. The Senior Epic Application Analyst utilizes their knowledge and skills to function as a technical resource on Epic and assume higher level project responsibilities. This position typically reports to an ISD manager or above.

The Senior Epic Applications Analyst – ASAP supports and optimizes Memorial Hermann’s Epic ASAP application, partnering with clinical, operational, and technical teams to enhance Emergency Department workflows and system performance. This role is responsible for application configuration, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, optimization, and implementation of new features while providing expert-level support for complex issues. The ideal candidate is an Epic ASAP-certified professional who is a strong critical thinker, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on delivering exceptional customer service and operational excellence.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Epic ASAP Certification (strongly preferred); Epic Clinical Documentation or Ambulatory Certification also considered

  • Experience supporting Epic applications, preferably within Emergency Department workflows

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills

  • Demonstrated accountability, ownership, and initiative

  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills

  • Experience with Epic upgrades, optimization, and enhancement projects

  • Ability to support on-call rotations and manage competing priorities effectively

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associates degree, preferred

Licenses/Certifications: Epic Certification required

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in a large, corporate systems development and implementation activities in a wide variety of Healthcare Information Systems (MIS) or similar  experience in system analysis, design, building, testing and implementation or a combination of MIS and working knowledge of hospital operations required

  • Industry training and increasingly responsible experience with knowledge and skills in a large, complex corporate Information System

  • Previous Epic or other Health Information Systems experience required

  • Experience in supporting complex problems

  • Experience in assisting other Analysts

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Epic application support, development tools and methodologies

  • Good analytical skills and technical aptitude

  • Good planning and organizational skills

  • Good communication, collaboration and customer service skills

  • Demonstrated  pattern of growth in ability to lead others

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Systems Development

  • Translates user and department Epic system needs into technical solutions.

  • Performs project reviews and process walk throughs incorporating technical, clinical and business solutions that will enhance user user productivity and department service levels.

Technical Administration

  • Responsible for providing technical knowledge in the support of Epic  as well as other software applications and operating systems.

  • Performs intermediate to advanced analysis, design, building, testing, and implementation of Epic
