As a Manufacturing Lab Manager you will have the opportunity to oversee the processing of samples in the manufacturing lab. This role involves coordination with Product Development to ensure timely scheduling of sample production, managing a team of technicians, maintaining equipment, and ensuring alignment with manufacturing best practices. The Lab Manager will also manage training schedules, engineering testing, and maintain logs of activities while ensuring that all processes meet company quality standards.
So, what will you be doing as a Manufacturing Lab Manager?
- Sample Processing Management: Oversee and manage sample production. Document the coils and units produced, recording tooling, recipes, raw materials, machine settings, machine performance and a log of the process. Ensure the coils and units produced meet the necessary engineering specifications and is completed in a timely manner.
- Coordination with Product Development: Collaborate closely with the Product Development team to schedule and prioritize sample production based on project timelines and requirements.
- Sample Data Collection: Collect detailed information for each sample, including coil and unit measurements, recipes, tooling, machine performance, and machine settings. Ensure accurate documentation of these details.
- Master Coil Creation: Create and maintain master coils as required for product development or production processes.
- Logging & Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of samples, training sessions, engineering testing, and other key activities. Ensure that all documentation is comprehensive and compliant with company standards.
- Support Machinery and Process Engineering Testing: Assist in scheduling and supporting engineering testing, ensuring that all testing is executed as planned when samples are not scheduled. Provide engineering with documentation regarding the test protocols and performance of the machinery.
- Branch Support: Plan and schedule branch technician support as needed.
- Support Training & Development: Provide support for EOJT (on-the-job training), training aids, and preventive maintenance (PM) development by ensuring that all training and maintenance materials are properly documented. Assist in scheduling and supporting technical training as planned. Coordinate and manage training schedules for lab staff and technicians.
- Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment and the facility, including performing routine checks, troubleshooting, and overseeing repairs. Manage machinery spare parts inventory to ensure no disruption in production.
- Team Management: Lead, train, and manage the technician team, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Shift & Weekend Scheduling: Manage shift schedules and adjust weekend hours as necessary to meet product development deadlines.
- Best Practices & Standards Compliance: Stay current with industry trends, new machinery, processes, and quality standards. Continuously apply best practices to improve manufacturing processes and maintain high standards of excellence.
