Summary
Provides oversight and direction of category management resources and correlated processes from inception to sundown - integrating strategic initiatives, continuous improvement and organizational goals.Provides strategic oversite and leadership of select key category management portfolios, initiatives and responsibilities such as GPO and buying group relationships and resources. Directs relational and cross-functional adjunct activities while monitoring compliance/adherence to organizational controls
Job Description
Productively works on complex scenarios with buying groups, suppliers, executive leadership and industry leaders to develop strategies to accomplish category management objectives. Manages relationships in the best interest of the enterprise.
Strives for continuous improvement focused on innovative category management strategies. Must be knowledgeable of market trends and price index relevance and take an active leadership role in implementing industry best-practices. Maintains a professional environment in interactions with suppliers, partners and internal stakeholders.
Manages analytics projects that provide actionable information aligned with supply chain strategy. Monitors activities to assess performance as applicable. Negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, vendors or freight forwarders as appropriate. Works to achieve balanced wins in negotiations.
Must adhere to federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to contracting and procurement of equipment, supplies and services.
Determine and manage best utilization of embedded GPO resources to support category management objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in related field required. Master degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field preferred.Five to eight years of progressive supply chain management leadership positions and in-depth contracting experience.
Professional certification in supply chain management preferred.
