We create and foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine—strengthening the institution through partnerships with donors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, and patients.


Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a modified hybrid work arrangement with an onsite presence of 2 days per week. The manager will confirm the team’s core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.


The Salesforce Software Engineer position will work closely with functional leaders, organizational business units, and subject matter experts in developing solutions based on the Salesforce platform. This position will be responsible for all technical aspects of Salesforce.com, including data migrations, data quality, systems integrations, 3rd party applications, AppExchange products, and custom code. The position is also responsible for designing and maintaining a continuous integration / DevOps tooling for the team to ensure automated, repeatable and optimized processes for development, testing and deployments.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading business requirements workshops with business leaders, subject matter experts and key client sponsors and stakeholders
  • Participating in projects through requirements definition and solution design phases
  • Writing solution design documents
  • Deliver solutions for the Salesforce.com platform and the ascend managed package to meet business requirements, including implementing and supporting common third-party on-platform applications that support Advancement (e.g., address validation, prospect research, document generation, Salesforce Inbox, Salesforce Maps, etc.)
  • Develop and managing existing Salesforce declarative solutions (utilizing Flow and Lightning capabilities)
  • As needed, provide functional leadership and oversight for the implementation of associated Cloud platforms, such as Marketing Cloud and Experience Cloud, in partnership with subject matter experts
  • Support reporting workstreams for standard Salesforce reports and dashboards to implement reporting solutions that meet common Advancement use cases (e.g., prospecting lists, comprehensive campaigns, development officer metrics, alumni engagement, annual giving, prospect management, etc.)
  • Contribute to every phase of the project lifecycle, including development, testing, and deployment (leveraging best practices in release management and develops)
  • Effectively work with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Architects, Customers and Development Leads
  • Manage scope and customer expectation
  • Design and manage the execution of user acceptance testing and ensure a quality solution is delivered
  • Lead knowledge transfer activities and support development of training materials
  • Educate Customer as a Salesforce.com champion
  • Support and enhance DAR’s Salesforce platform, UCI Ascend. Help build competency in this environment among other members of the technical staff.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within an Advancement organization or on Advancement implementations.
  • Proven ability to design and optimize Advancement business processes and to integrate these business processes across disparate systems.
  • Hands-on role in an implementation of the ascend managed package.
  • Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator
  • Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder
  • Ability to manage and maintain existing Apex solutions (triggers, classes, batch processes).
