Intelligently connecting the dots across fragmented information landscapes, we bring to our clients a unique, real-time understanding of the trades happening all over the world, by giving them access to live information about the movement of cargos, the availability of vessels as well as commodity storage.

Kpler Inc. is seeking a Data Analyst for its New York, NY headquarters in the US. This position has work from home flexibility, anywhere in the US. Data Analyst will work on decoding the global energy market by analyzing a large set of data in various quantitative methods. Will be in charge of building data models to predict future data points in a time series utilizing various data sources, including shipping, pricing, port agent, as well as other data related to the global energy market. Will build the models using programming languages such as Python and SQL and other languages, based on statistical and other quantitative methods, utilizing the Analyst’s understanding of how the energy market, especially the energy shipping market, works. Will also be in charge of building data queries to extract information from relational databases in SQL language, organizing the data by utilizing pivoting and other data classification techniques. Will optimize the process by applying advanced level of SQL language to guarantee the speed of pulling a large amount of data set frequently. Will assist managers and clients with ad-hoc analysis projects and modelling works.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business Analytics or closely related field, and 6 years of experience or a Master’s degree Statistics, Business Analytics or closely related field and 4 years of related experience. Required experience must include 6 years (or 4 with a Master’s degree) in the following specific areas:
• Data sourcing and gathering;• Understanding and querying data related to commodities market• Operating and supporting data based applications• Python and SQL• HTML• Xpath and Regular expression.
Wage: $98,862
