Our team is part of the Cloud Security organization, responsible for the technologies powering Akamai's security products and protecting some of the world's major internet brands. Working in partnership with other development teams, we design and create highly scalable solutions.

Shape internet security

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will use statistics/machine learning to develop security algorithms and research emerging threats. You'll develop tools to visualize and analyze their outputs. Our release cycle will allow taking research and infusing it into products to protect global brands. You'll enhance our products' security measures by devising innovative detection methods and integrating them effectively.

As a Senior Data Scientist Senior, you will be responsible for:

Researching strategies used by bot operators and fraudsters and define new detection methods to counter the evolution
Working with customers/service organization to review escalations related to detection accuracy issues and propose product improvements to solve the problem
Leading the end-to-end development of data science projects, from prototyping to productization, in collaboration with project stakeholders
Developing new product features using statistical/machine learning-based algorithms to identify bot and fraud traffic
Enhancing processes to collect, manipulate, present, and analyze large datasets, ensuring scalability and efficiency
Participating in product evangelization efforts by speaking at security conference or publishing blog articles

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience
Demonstrate a track record of leading projects to successful completion and mentoring and guiding data science teams
Have experience digging into large datasets to identify creative ways of detecting fraud and bot traffic
Possess knowledge of probability, statistics, and machine learning algorithms/techniques, especially in security or fraud context
Demonstrate a background in web security with bot and fraud detection
