What We Offer

This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work no more than 39 hours per week. The starting pay for this position is $21.26/hour. This position is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. On‐call positions may have routine or variable work schedules.

Location & Schedule

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

In this position you can expect to work on site at the Montclair Civic Building on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and from home on Mondays and Fridays. The Administrative Support Assistant III provides customer service to both internal and external customers seeking to use Denver’s parks and facilities. This is an on-call, unbenefited position, meaning it’s a part-time, hourly role. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (with some flexibility) and may include occasional off-site meetings. Most work occurs during event season, April – October. From November to March, hours will be reduced.

Who We Are & What You’ll Do

The Park Permitting unit provides direct customer service and administrative support to those requesting various types of use permits for the City of Denver's parks and facilities such as, but not limited to athletic fields/courts, assembly/First Amendment, temporary vending, facility rentals, private fee-based activities, public events, special occasions, and tournaments. The team processes permits according to City policies and rules - ensuring safe and compliant use of Denver's prized parks and facilities.

This position performs full performance professional level work managing various permits assigned by Park District/permit type; assisting with policy development, updates, dissemination, and enforcement; ongoing process improvement; data collection, analysis, and reporting which will help inform operational decisions; and presenting as needed to customer groups and other City agencies. The position will manage permits that serve hundreds of organizations/entities and thousands of customers annually. Organizations served represent neighborhood groups/Registered Neighborhood Organizations, schools/districts, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, as well as other City agencies.
 

Specifically, as the Parks Permitting Administrative Support Assistant III, you will:

  • Interact professionally, courteously, and accurately with a high volume of customers

  • Greet in-person customers, assisting with general permitting inquiries

  • Return permitting voicemails daily

  • General office tasks

  • Process in-person payment in a timely and accurate manner

  • Maintain a high proficiency in permitting software use to create, edit, manipulate, and retrieve files and/or databases and review reports

  • Follow standard processes and procedures

  • Support Permit Office staff as needed

  • Coordinate with other City Agencies as appropriate

  • Coordinate with Park Rangers as appropriate

  • Attend and actively participate in departmental and business unit trainings and meetings
