Job Purpose
The role holder is responsible for the Pipeline Safety Management & Compliance, Pipeline Safety Management Team. The Pipeline Safety Management team is responsible for driving and monitoring the Gas Business Units maturity of its Pipeline Safety Management System that is based in the recommended practice API 1173. Role also includes participation in monitoring of program effectiveness, and governance of Major Hazard Asset (MHA) Process Safety Management to ensure compliance with internal requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain and develop metrics for the Pipeline Safety Management System
- Analyze data trends and when issues arise, support the gas business unit in developing performance breakdowns
- Maintain API RP 1173 Maturity Reporting for Gas Business Unit
- Participate in senior leadership Pipeline Safety Management Committee
- Develop and support business Improvement initiatives in each of the 10 Pipeline Safety elements based on API RP 1173
- Determine interdependencies of the various elements and work collaboratively across the business
- Work with cross functional teams across the entire Gas business unit to improve Pipeline Safety Management system knowledge and proficiency
- Assist in the development and compiling of the gas business unit’s management reviews for Pipeline Safety & Process Safety Management Systems
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Skilled in stakeholder management.
- Management reporting and presentation skills.
Qualifications
College Degree in: Engineering, Business, or related field
Years of Experience in Gas Utility or Related Industry: 3 to 5
Basic understanding of gas pipeline operations and maintenance functions.
Must have the skills to work alone and as a member of a team when performing Pipeline safety management functions.
Must possess strong computer skills and the ability to analyze data and prepare concise presentations
Ability to build effective, respectful, working relationships.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the gas business and how it operates
Basic understanding of API RP 1173, National Grid Risk Control Standards, OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.119, or other Safety/environmental management systems
Experience performing compliance assessments or audits on pipeline/process safety applications
Demonstrated project management skills
