Description
Verily’s internship is a paid 13 week program for rising seniors, either undergraduate or graduate students, who are interested in working at the intersection of technology, data science and healthcare. The program is designed for all students, and again this year we encourage students who have been historically underrepresented in this field to explore the program, which is a pathway towards full-time employment within Verily. This includes but is not limited to: Black/African-American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native American, students with disabilities, veterans, and non-binary people.
As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will design and develop medical devices. You will help design and test engineering design workflow and processes. You have a solid hardware design background and knowledge of system architecture. You have some programming experience, ideally with Python. You will also work cross functionally with design teams to deliver systems to manufacturing.
This project will be within Verily’s medical devices team working on the early stage development of a novel medical device. The device you will be working on includes a novel sensor that could significantly improve outcomes of people diagnosed with certain cardiovascular diseases. The role includes designing systems to help test and characterize our prototype devices. It will include circuit board design and fabrication, bring-up and characterization. The work will be crucial to learning about and characterizing our device.

Our team is commercializing a revolutionary AI-enabled imaging device that combines commodity electronics and optics with computer vision solutions. This device uses various kinds of cameras in order to close medical gaps by improving access. As a System Engineering Intern, you’ll bring together your expertise in multiple technical areas to build and improve devices and ensure they meet specifications.
Responsibilities
- Characterize and test new camera sub-system and subassemblies.
- Execute study plans and analyze data.
- Design and conduct experiments to validate hypotheses on camera feature performance.
- Debug performance issues and suggest improvements.
- Organize and present design, plans, and experimental results to various stakeholders.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in university as a full-time student (notate level of education required/preferred for the internship) with an anticipated graduation date on or before the summer of 2024.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Experience in one of the following areas: image sensors evaluation, camera optical systems design, advanced image processing algorithms development.
- Good programming and data analysis and presentation skills.
- General lab skills such as the use of oscilloscopes and signal analyzers. Experience with designing /building HW prototypes and designing / executing HW related experiments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with C++.
- Experience in AI algorithm development.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and skills quickly.
The US base pay range for this intern position is $50.48-61.06. Our pay ranges are determined by role, education level, experience, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay ranges for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
