About the role
Job Description Summary
In this role, you will serve as a Staff Cloud Infrastructure Architect working on the team responsible for building the GE Aerospace Cloud environment. You will also be responsible for migrating workloads into cloud environments. You will be expected to work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across departments. You will also contribute to design, security, and architecture discussions.As part of the GE Aerospace Digital Technology separation workstream, the Staff Cloud Infrastructure Architect role is a project role that will support the separation of GE Aerospace into an independent, investor-grade company.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the analysis, design and development of a roadmap and implementation based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
- Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
- Research and evaluate emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.
- Participate in the migration of applications from on-premises data centers to Cloud environments.
- Contribute to the designs and deployment of cloud infrastructure solutions for the GE Aerospace business.
- Work cross functionally with other departments to align activities and deliverables
- Promote the company culture by encouraging open communication, teamwork and living of the GE Beliefs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 4 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 7 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 9 years of professional experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience implementing cloud technologies
Preferred Experience:
- Understanding of, or experience with, AWS core services such as IAM, EC2, ELB/ALB, S3, RDS and others
- Hands on experience with Operating Systems such as Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- LEAN Knowledge
- Understands technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction aligning with business goals.
- Familiar with elements of gathering architecture requirements.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and technical leadership skills.
Eligibility Requirement:

Desired Characteristics:
Technical Expertise:
- Experience developing or operating applications in Cloud environments (E.G. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure)
- Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux based programming
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and inter-networking technologies (routing/switching, proxy, firewall, load balancing etc.)
- Experience designing and implementing solutions leveraging multiple services within public cloud providers
- Experience using an automated configuration management or infrastructure as code system (E.G. Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, CloudFormation)
- Interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and / or industry activities
Business Acumen:
- Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
- Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
- Demonstrates awareness about industry trends
- Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
