SUMMARY
The Research Assistant 1 (A) contributes to research investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. The Research Assistant 1 (A) performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Sets up and operates various scientific apparatus and makes minor repairs. Prepares correspondence and answers phones. Formulates and maintains bibliographies and completes applications and forms. Orders laboratory supplies and maintains culture media reagents. Reviews and edits various materials for publication and prepares publication schedules. Maintains appropriate logs, records, and study notebooks. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (DPLM) is currently seeking a Research assistant who will support the Advanced Histopathology Research Laboratory within the DPLM and Cancer Modeling Shared Resource. This person will be responsible for supporting and implementing the necessary workflows to accomplish the research goals and histopathological-related service provision under the direction of Dr. Bilbao, including scanning of glass slides, maintenance of proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. Further, the Research Assistant performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities. Highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Research Lab Assistant with a strong background in providing administrative support to research teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Knowledge of the use and maintenance of laboratory facilities and/or equipment.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
- Possess a willingness to assume responsibility for tasks outside of your current role and to work flexible hours as needed.
