About the role
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist project team with job planning at home office prior to mobilization to the work site.
- Review and understand the individual contract terms.
- Become familiar with project specifications and project standard drawings.
- Understand and maintain lines of communication to the engineer of record, Owner technical authorities, other Owner contractors, and Owner entities such as an operations or maintenance group.
- Assist with job estimating using industry standard job estimating software, job and task scheduling, construction equipment selection, and construction means & methods for various disciplines.
- Compare the construction drawings against the Owners provided material list to identify and requisition material shorts.
- Generate material requisitions for Delta provided permanent materials such as pipe insulation, insulation blankets, coatings, sealants, fasteners, and miscellaneous hardware.
- Work with materials and logistics group to prioritize material deliveries to coincide with project schedule.
- Participate with project scheduler and project team to develop and sequence the P6 project schedule.
- Prepare and submit temporary project infrastructure site plans such as job trailer placement, tool room placement, material lay-down areas, and on-site fabrication areas.
- Prepare and submit critical lift plans for Owner approval by analyzing force distributions and rigging arrangements for crane lifts.
- Maintain the internal lift plan spreadsheet.
- Assemble field hydro-test drawing packages and maintain the internal hydro-test log spreadsheet.
- Attend training sessions, seminars, and appropriate educational classes as required by department.
- Identify subcontractors required for the project and compile detailed scope of work for subcontractors and solicit pricing to incorporate into the master estimate.
- Manage the subcontractor and be the single point of contact (SPOC) at the job site
- Review subcontractor daily time sheets.
- Coordinate an office support area for them to include desk, communication and print capabilities.
- Provide introductions to the project manager and project team.
- Coordinate field support through project team to include equipment use, quality requirements, support labor, scaffold requirements or material logistics.
- Research any technical questions or discrepancies that arise and provide solution.
- Become familiar with project non-destructive examination (NDE) requirements for various construction processes.
- Work to identify and eliminate any known health, safety or environmental hazards associated with the work.
- Write request for information (RFI’s) for drawing discrepancies, specification discrepancies, or field interference's using the Owner provided RFI Share Point site.
- Maintain the internal RFI log spreadsheet.
- Requisition new materials if identified in the RFI disposition.
- Prepare change notice estimates for new work scopes and RFI work scopes.
- Provide input to the weekly Project Status Report to include outstanding issues or information needed.
- Work with electrical field engineer when the electrical work requires a mechanical interface or assistance.
- Review and interpret design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level, and correct technical execution of the work.
- Compare process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s) against the project piping isometric drawings to identify discrepancies.
- Perform drawing redlines, adhering to the redline and as-built procedure, due to RFI changes or other changes made in the field.
- Assemble system turnover drawings packages for the project completion effort.
- Provide schedule and progress appraisal data to the Project Manager
- Provide and coordinate resolution for technical engineering problems
- Work closely, support, and collaborate with the project team to accomplish all the specific responsibilities shown above.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred. Related Engineering degree may be considered or 10+ years relevant field experience in the oil and gas industry in lieu of degree.
- 3+ years experience as a Construction Field Engineer, preferably in the oil & gas industry or industrial construction.
- Proficient with reading construction drawings such as P&ID’s, piping isometric drawings, and structural drawings.
- Experienced with current Microsoft Office suite.
- Experienced with Adobe PDF editor, Blubeam, and Visio.
- Experienced with construction estimating software such as WinEst, Timberline
