Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Teacher will assist the Preschool Director in providing direction for the program and staff in the classroom and implement program curriculum in the classroom.  They will work cooperatively with other teachers and administrators to carry out the Preschool mission and vision. The incumbent will provide quality programming to children and parents that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:

  1. Works with supervisor to implement curriculum within the established guidelines.
  2. Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
  3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
  4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  5. Conducts parent conferences, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication
    with parents.
  6. Maintains program site and equipment.
  7. Maintains required program records.
  8. Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  9. Provide work direction to Preschool Assistants and Volunteers in the classroom.
  10. Observes DHS Rule 3 regulations for a Licensed Child Care Center.
  11. Follow all YMCA policy and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Meet Minnesota DHS Rule 3  Teacher qualifications, including yearly in service requirements.
  2. CPR, First Aid, and other training required by the Department of Human Services (YMCA will provide this training upon hire).
  3. A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.
  4. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate preschool program activities.<
