The Storage Engineer is crucial in ensuring data integrity, availability, and security across the enterprise and will be an experienced Backup/Storage Engineer with 3-5 years of hands-on experience to join our IT team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the implementation, management, and maintenance of our organization's backup and storage systems.

Job Description:

This maybe a Hybrid/Remote opportunity for a New England applicant. Must be able to commute to Boston MA on occasion.

Primary Responsibilities:
 

Support and Maintenance:

  • Assist in managing and maintaining backup systems, including scheduling, monitoring, and verifying backups.

  • Support the maintenance of storage infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.

  • Perform regular testing of backup and recovery processes to ensure data can be restored effectively.


Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Provide basic troubleshooting for backup and storage-related issues.

  • Assist senior engineers in resolving incidents and ensuring service continuity.

  • Document and escalate complex issues to senior team members.
     

Implementation and Configuration:

  • Assist in configuring and deploying backup and storage systems under the guidance of senior engineers.

  • Participate in the implementation of new backup and storage solutions.


Security and Compliance:

  • Help implement data security measures, including encryption and access controls.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data storage and protection.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for backup and storage procedures and configurations.

Optimization and Reporting:

  • Monitor storage usage and performance, reporting any anomalies to senior engineers.

  • Assist in generating and reviewing reports on backup and storage system performance and capacity.

Required Qualifications:
 

1.  Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, IT, or relevant field. required

2.  3-5 years related work experience required.

3.  Hands-on experience with Commvault

4.  Hands-on experience with related storage technology (Brocade SAN, Dell Unity/PowerStore/PowerMax (at least one of these).

Preferred Qualification

      Familiarity with cloud and cloud storage is a plus but not require
