Job Description
Role Purpose
Syngenta’s Seeds Product Safety group is committed to applying world-class science and winning innovation to offer farmers safe, cost-effective solutions that address the demands of a rapidly changing world. We are looking for a scientist with experience in an agricultural field and a thorough understanding of statistical applications to agricultural research and field trialing to join our Field Program and Equivalency Team. As a scientist (Technical Expert 3) in the team, you will support the development and maintenance of our genetically modified crop products for Syngenta by providing technical expertise and advice in the areas of crop composition, agronomy, and statistics.
Accountabilities
- Plan, execute, monitor, and deliver study programs and/or risk assessments to enable regulatory submissions, interpret statistical analyses of agronomic and crop composition data, and provide safety and technical positions to support project and business needs
- Perform duties as study director/author of technical regulatory reports for agronomy and crop nutritional composition studies in compliance with all safety, regulatory and GLP requirements
- Provide technical expertise and inputs into the development of regulatory and safety strategies in cross functional teams
- Identify and communicate risks/issues proactively and contribute to the development and implementation of solutions and risk management plans
- Continue to develop and maintain expertise in your area through participation in seminars, workshops, training courses and professional associations to maximize your contribution and impact to Syngenta
- Establish yourself externally as a credible and recognized technical expert in your field (via publishing, presenting, networking) to enable participation in industry-wide task forces and work groups
- Develop a broad understanding of the activities across Syngenta

Critical Knowledge, experience, capabilities, and qualifications
- A PhD, or combination of education and experience in an agricultural field (Agronomy, Crop Science, Crop Physiology, Plant Biochemistry, Plant Breeding, Crop Pest Control, Statistics, etc.) is necessary to support the maintenance and development of crop seed trait products
- A proven track record of solving difficult and complex technical problems
- Accurate interpretation of data and clear communication of experimental outcomes
- Sound knowledge of agricultural practices and experience in conducting agricultural field trials
- Thorough understanding of statistical applications in agricultural research/trialing and experimental design principles
- Ability to conduct independent statistical analysis of agricultural and nutritional composition data, depending on skillset; SAS coding experience beneficial
- Experience as a study director or study monitor of GLP studies is desired
