Job Description
This position will directly support the Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW); Employment Services related programs within SC Works Centers and access points, providing customer guidance, programmatic support, and professional services. Will ensure efficient delivery of reemployment services as outlined by state/federal policies and procedures. Serves as manager for local workforce and economic development staff and activities within the center structure. Will also work directly with the SC Works Center operator(s) to ensure program integration within the center and surrounding areas, ensuring DEW program measures are achieved.

This position may require scheduled travel to the following counties: Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop staff, conduct training and evaluations, fill vacancies, and foster a professional work environment to support the mission of the SC Works Center.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate Workforce Operation program activities.
  • Ensure timely service delivery of programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor staff activities daily and assist in areas requiring additional staff.
  • Work with SC Works Operator and Regional Area Director for service delivery improvements.
  • Seek opportunities to provide services in alternate locations such as libraries, technical colleges, or other community partner locations.
  • Promote positive communication to ensure continued partnerships and collaborations between SC Works Center Operators and partner staff.
  • Analyze and integrate complex data to identify effectiveness of local staff activities.
  • Adjust staffing to meet service delivery needs.
  • Review work processes, travel, positive referral success, and service impact for each local area.
  • Identify creative ways to improve efficiency or effectiveness of activities.
  • Evaluate the impact of external events on current processes and develop effective alternatives to meet goals.
  • Manage cost center budget to help drive decision making.
  • Collaborate with Rapid Response Lead to effectively coordinate Rapid Response events.
  • Work with local partner staff to develop and monitor efficient business engagement plans and special projects/pilot programs that target priority populations.

Examples of duties

High school diploma and four (4) years of experience in recruitment/selection, interviewing, counseling, assessment, workforce development or similar type activities. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience. Supervisory experience for internal candidates can include point-of-contact experience, managing projects, training, etc. but must be included on application. Current, valid driver's license required. The selected applicant must possess or be able to obtain a valid South Carolina driver's license within 90 days of employment.
