Duration: 4 - 6 months

Internship Topics at ETAS

Packaging Eclipse SDV Components in Non-Yocto based Systems (Android, Freertos, debian, RaspberryPI os, ...)

The Eclipse Leda project provides system image “recipes” to deliver a functional and always-available Linux-based image/distribution in the context of SDV (Software Defined Vehicle), by pulling together individual contributor pieces from Eclipse SDV and the larger OSS community.

Currently, Leda is a full Yocto-based Linux distribution, with Eclipse SDV specific configurations and services. The task is to setup an automated build environment, in which the Eclipse SDV specific configurations and services are packaged in Debian, RPM and other packages.

Sync VSS In-Vehicle Data with Cloud Representation (Vehicle Digital Twin)

The Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) of the COVESA consortium provides a unified access to vehicle signals in a tree like data structure. Projects such as Eclipse Kuksa of the Eclipse SDV working group provide access to the VSS tree via a data broker component. The broker is only available in the car and does not provide a digital twin abstraction to the cloud. However, updating such a twin every time a signal in the vehicle changes would produce too much traffic. More intelligent approaches need to be defined. The task is to find and implement an approach to create a digital twin of the vehicle signals in the cloud.

Extend Kuksa Databroker to Store History Data

The Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) of the COVESA consortium provides a unified access to vehicle signals in a tree like data structure. Projects such as Eclipse Kuksa of the Eclipse SDV working group provide access to the VSS tree via a data broker component. Currently, the data broker of the Eclipse Kuksa project only provides the latest known state for a signal but no historical data. In this task the Kuksa databroker component is to be extended so that it also stores historical states of a signal. As the component is to be used within a vehicle, it is important to provide an efficient implementation.

Extend Velocitas to Support uProtocol

Eclipse Velocitas™ is an open source project providing an end-to-end, scalable and modular development tool chain to create containerized Vehicle Apps, offering a comfortable, fast and efficient development experience to increase the speed of a development team (velocity). Eclipse Velocitas supports the COVESA Vehicle Signal Specification as abstraction for vehicle signals. The Eclipse uProtocol is a specification for transport layer agnostic exchange of messages between different entities involved in a SDV. In this task available bindin
