The Department of Fire Services (DFS) is recruiting to fill the Rapid Intervention & Survival Skills Instructional Assistant Program Coordinator position. This is a part-time, contract position with no benefits.

Description of Duties

Responsible for assisting the coordination of all aspects of the Rapid Intervention & Survival Skills Group at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA) under the leadership and direction of the Program Coordinator, supervising Program Coordinator III (PCIII) or Deputy Director

Reviews and summarizes student evaluations 

  • Conducts program review for program area and becomes involved in re‐development of existing programs and development of new programs 

  • Prepares new equipment and/or replacement equipment lists annually and submits to Program Coordinator 

  • Works closely with Support branch of DFS to ensure proper equipment and media are delivered to training sites 

  • Researches, evaluates, and prepares recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, and materials for the program 

  • Develops tests, questionnaires, and procedures to measure effectiveness of curriculum and to determine if program objectives are met 

  • Works with staff in assessment, curriculum development, management of student behavior, and use of materials and equipment 

  • Plans, conducts, and evaluates training programs and other learning opportunities for instructors to study new classroom procedures, instructional materials, and teaching aids 

  • Reviews and grades written test scores and skill sheets and counsels students when necessary 

  • Prepares subjective evaluations on students for outstanding performance and non‐acceptable performance and counsels the student and notifies the Chief of the Department 

  • May be assigned additional projects by MFA leadership

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of three years of relevant fire service or emergency service industry experience such as a fire officer, fire investigator, training officer, or fire prevention position
