General Schedule:
Position typically works Monday-Friday from 9:30am-6:30pm. Occasional evenings and weekends depending on coverage in the Innovation Studio. There is some flexibility regarding hours within the operating hours of the Studio.
Hourly rate of $16.97 per hour is equivalent to $35,297.60 per year.

Position Overview & Job Duties:

The University of Central Oklahoma Chambers Library Innovation Studio helps people solve problems and connects the Central Community to emerging technologies that empower the creation of new knowledge.

The Innovation Studio is seeking a Specialist I to supervise and schedule the student employees, and with their help, to work with immersive technologies to staff the Innovation Studio and deliver services, to maintain equipment, and to teach members of the Central Community how to use the Makerspace equipment.

The Innovation Studio provides many technologies, including 3D printing, laser cutting/engraving, audio and video recording, sewing, electronics soldering, large format printing, and more. It is open 62 hours per week during a regular semester, opening at 10:00 AM Monday through Saturday and noon on Sunday. The Specialist I will be expected to work a typical daytime shift (usually 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM), but may be asked to work evenings or weekends as needed for coverage. The Specialist I will supervise as many as eight student employees, report to the Emerging and Immersive Technology Librarian who oversees the operations of the Innovation Studio and participate as a member of the library’s systems staff.

The Specialist I is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day running of the Innovation Studio Makerspace for UCO students, faculty and staff to engage in creative and scholarly pursuits. The Specialist I will support learning opportunities with maker technologies for users of varying skill levels. The Specialist I maintains the highest level of customer service in the delivery of Innovation Studio services for all users in the space. The Specialist I will also supervise users in the space to confirm safe and appropriate use of the technology and space. The Specialist I reports to the Emerging and Immersive Technology Librarian and helps to hire, supervise and evaluate all student employees and create schedules to ensure coverage for the Innovation Studio open hours. UCO and the Chambers Library offer many opportunities for professional learning and development and the successful candidate will have chances to learn the Innovation Studio equipment via in-person, on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees the daily operation of Innovation Studio for UCO students, faculty and staff to engage in creative and scholarly pursuits.

• Maintains the highest level of customer service in the delivery of Innovation Studio services for all users.
• Supervises users in the space to ensure safe and appropriate use of the technology and space.
• Hires, supervises, and evaluates all student employees and creates schedules to ensure coverage for the Innovation Studio open hours under the supervision of the Emerging and Immersive Technology Librarian.
• Reports regularly to the Emerging and Immersive Technology Librarian about the needs of the Studio and its student employees.
