605 is an independent TV measurement and analytics firm that offers advertising and content measurement, full-funnel attribution, media planning, optimization and analytical solutions. Comprised of engineers, analysts, data scientists, media experts and marketing strategists, 605 forges new paths using groundbreaking innovations that set industry standards for audience targeting and measurement.
The 605 Summer 2023 Internship Program is a ten week program, running from June 5th to August 11th. Interns for this program will be based out of our Syosset, NY office and will be expected to be in the office at least 2 days per week.

The ideal Data Engineering intern is a highly motivated and creative-thinking engineering student who’s eager to explore in the full stack. You’ll get to tackle new and interesting challenges with big data while integrating the front-end with the data layer. Working alongside seasoned engineers, you’ll grow your skills and learn cutting-edge technologies as we launch new big data products in media analytics.
You should be comfortable with data structures and be comfortable with both the application and presentation layers of software architecture. You won’t just be working with technology, however – our engineering intern may also be called upon to work collaboratively with analysts and business users. Most importantly, you’ll be working with exciting new tech that processes hundreds of millions of rows of data per day!
In this job you will:
- Write clean code in a tight-knit, collaborative, agile environment
- Participate in standups and scrum sessions
- Help create dashboards and data visualization for internal and external use
- Collaborate with other engineers and designers, both internal and external, in order to integrate various aspects of new and existing products

- Loves to learn – you can’t fit enough classes into your course load and are continuously reading about new disciplines
- Constantly consumes information (breaking news, technology developments, the works)
Requirements
- Enrolled in a bachelors program, currently a rising junior (master's candidates welcome)
- A strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and effective software design
- Experience with both static (e.g. Java, Scala) and dynamically typed languages (e.g. Python)
- Understanding of unit testing and test-driven development
- Comfort with version control systems (e.g. Git, SVN)
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical experience with data in cloud computing environments (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Practical experience with Apache Spark Proficiency with SQL and RDBMSs
- Basic understanding of statistics
