OnsiteCollins Aerospace is searching for a dynamic Software Engineer to join our Air Transport Displays and Platform Systems team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. What You Will Do:
- Support the design, development, verification, and maintenance of flight-critical software for commercial aviation solutions and avionics products
- Support project team activities related to the specification of requirements, software implementation, test case development, verification test execution, and certification
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct complex tests and debugs systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with systems and hardware architects in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded processing systems
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
- Experience in writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support
- Design, implement, and evaluate software in C/C++, Python, and/or Java languages
- Proficiency with modern software development best practices and configuration management tools
- Effective and easily-engaged communicator
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with various teams
- Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions
- Energetic and proactive self-starter that builds sound, collaborative relationships
- Strong background in development of low-level software and concurrent processing solutions
- This position requires a commitment to professional working hours that extend beyond a typical 40 hours work week.
Qualification We Prefer:
- Experience with DO-178B/C (DAL A or B preferred)
- Experience with software engineering processes and procedures, including writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support
- Experience in implementing low-level software development tasks and verification tasks
- Strong contributor to a positive work environment that focuses on solutions
