Program Overview
The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program operates on the campus of Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee and at Sunland in Marianna under the auspices of The State of Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program (DDDP) is dedicated to empowering persons with developmental disabilities charged with a felony crime to:
1. Acquire the skills and support that will prepare them for success in their future environments.
2. Acquire the skills needed to become competent to stand trial.
Position Summary
Duties and responsibilities of a Senior Licensed Practical Nurse F/C include:
The incumbent assigned to this position is responsible for the professional medical care, health, safety, and well-being of residents ordered by the Court to custody of the Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program which is a 24/7 treatment and training facility. These duties involve providing practical nursing services to residents under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Prepares and documents administration and /or refusals of medications. Performs quality control protocols on medications received from pharmacy against physician orders to ensure accuracy, stamps with medication stamps and completes other required information as appropriate. Timely and accurately completes Medication Administration Records (MAR’S). Observes for effectiveness and adverse reaction/side effects of prescribed medications and documents accordingly.
Performs direct nursing care functions as ordered/prescribed and in compliance with applicable policies and within scope of practice. Ensures all physician ordered treatments are carried out as prescribed, such as,
