ABOUT THE TEAM
The engineering team is responsible for all technology for Bestow and the Bestow Platform. We serve employees, consumers, and enterprise customers. As well as building software, we also integrate and manage many third-party products used by employees and as part of the platform. Our major functional teams are product engineering, infrastructure, IT, data & analytics, MarTech, and program management. Engineering works closely with product management and design to define and prioritize the product roadmap.
As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Post-Issue Engineering team, you will work closely with the Post Issue/Purchase Product Managers and our external partners to develop and support integration solutions to bring our digital life insurance experience to partners. You will also work to collaborate with teams across Bestow to establish roadmaps on features involving our partners. This involves digging into multiple codebases and policy services built on event-driven Golang.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• You will be developing core services primarily using Golang and PostgreSQL
• We're a startup with a long product roadmap. You will help and accelerate foundational services to scale the output of our product teams.
• Resolve issues with previously delivered features.
• Write unit and integration tests for code you create.
• Peer review code developed by others on your team.
• Ensure software is secure, maintainable.
• Work with designers, product managers, and other engineers
• Encourage automation and continuous improvement.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

• You have 4+ years of professional software development experience (backend)
• Professional experience with Golang (Go) is preferred
• Familiarity with React and Redux preferred, or desire to learn!
• Experience using Docker for local software development.
• An advocate for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
• Experience with distributed systems or microservices.
• Experience designing APIs (Protocol Buffers, RAML, Swagger, OpenAPI, etc,)
