Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and tech-savvy Student Assistant with strong digital skills to support our grant’s research and media initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating digital videos, an interest in conducting research, and a willingness to collaborate on various projects.

About the California State University Maritime Academy:
Established in 1929, California State University Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University, is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located on the scenic Vallejo waterfront, the campus serves a student population of approximately 1000 undergraduates and 50 graduate students.
Cal Maritime offers seven baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, International Strategy and Security, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Transportation, and Oceanography. The undergraduate curriculum includes licensing programs for future merchant marine, coast guard, and naval reserve officers. Cal Maritime also offers a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management degree, as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses.
Job Duties:
We are seeking a highly motivated and tech-savvy Student Assistant with strong digital skills to support our grant’s research and media initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating digital videos, an interest in conducting research, and a willingness to collaborate on various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create engaging digital videos for educational, promotional, and research-related purposes.
- Assist in designing and editing multimedia content, including video, graphics, and presentations.
- Support digital content management, including organizing and archiving media files.
- Assist with transcribing data
- Perform other duties as assigned to support our research needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student.
- Strong digital skills, including video creation, editing, and basic graphic design.
- Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Canva, or similar).
- Interest in research and the ability to analyze and synthesize information effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
