Join us as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Residency) in Our Transition-to-Practice Program

Participate in Foresight’s comprehensive six-month transition-to-practice program specifically designed for newly graduated PMHNPs or those who have recently entered the workplace but are seeking a more supportive and collaborative experience. We offer a specialized curriculum with individualized training and ongoing clinical guidance to enhance skills and foster development toward becoming a proficient and successful practitioner. In addition to program participation, primary responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders by conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, designing personalized treatment plans, prescribing medication, and assessing treatment outcomes.

*PMHNPs hired for the program are planned to start as a cohort in August 2025.*

As a Foresight Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Residency) in Our Transition-to-Practice Program, You Will:

  • Engage in an immersive six-month transition-to-practice program that runs concurrent with patient care responsibilities
  • Manage a progressively increasing caseload throughout the program, consisting of independent medication management sessions, evaluations, assessments, and follow-ups
  • Conduct 60-minute intake sessions and 15- to 30-minute follow-up appointments, with brief supportive therapy provided during 30-minute sessions 
  • Manage 45- to 60-minute transfer appointments as well as provide intermittent coverage for fellow providers’ appointments
  • Create comprehensive assessments and treatment plans with proper documentation
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the Psychiatry Team

 

What Foresight Offers

  • Salary & Program Completion: Starting salary $125,000 annual salary for a 40-hour work week (including 32 hours a week seeing patients and practicum and 8 hours of non-patient time to complete learning and assignments during flex times).
    • Upon successful completion of the program, you will transition into a full-time, regular position with Foresight Mental Health, and your annual base salary will increase to $145,000. In addition to the salary increase, you will become eligible for enhanced benefits as part of our comprehensive employment package. An additional salary adjustment will be considered based on performance six months after successful completion of the program.
  • Schedule: Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM for patient visits and practicum, with an additional 8 hours allocated for assigned modules, readings, homework, case studies, etc. that can be completed at times that work best for you. 
  • Occasional Monday hours may be reserved using your flex time for intensive sessions on various topics, with dates provided in advance.
  • Remote, work from home setting

What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for recently graduated Psychiatric NPs who are passionate about their patients’ well-being, enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and patients, and want to simultaneously learn from and share with others. 

Program candidates must secure the following prior to joining the program:

  • A master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited graduate program in psychiatric mental health nursing 
  • Appropriate CA-state licensure: unrestricted active California PMH-NP License and unrestricted California DEA with schedules II-V 
  • ANCC Board Certification 

Program candidates should exhibit:

  • Preparedness for participation in a transition-to-practice program, including ability to commit to a full-time schedule, which includes attending meetings, educational intensives, and independent synchronous learning initiatives
