Job Description

As a student assistant supporting GTRI’s Research Security in Atlanta, GA, your roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to during Summer 2026:

  • Assist ISSMs and ISSOs in operations to protect accredited information systems
  • Develop technical solutions to enhance security of networks
  • Provide assistance to validate implementation of cybersecurity controls
  • Assist with documenting system security plans
  • Participate in self-inspection, assessment and authorization activities
  • Provide support for Security Information Management Systems (SIMS)
  • Assist with monitoring classified meetings, conferences, and courses
  • Other duties assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or related Major
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
  • 3.0 or higher GPA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge or experience with Cybersecurity applications
  • Understanding of Risk Management Framework
  • Understanding of configuration management processes or tools
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas

Hours per Week

10–20 hours per week

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
